109th Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade

 

Winter months often bring cooler and wetter weather. Be sure to think about this when your home is for sale during the winter months. Stepping in from the chilly weather is often very welcomed; keep the temperature in your home between 65 and 70 degrees, which is the temperature range most potential buyers prefer. Other ways to create warm and welcoming environment is to open the shades and let the natural light in, add throw pillows and throws in warm colors to the couches. The 109th Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade will take place from December 13th through December 17th. Each evening the parade will begin at 6:30pm and end at 9pm. The Christmas Boat Parade cruises around Newport Harbor, starting off and finishing at Tip of Lido Isle with a 14 mile route. The first public viewing area is at Marina Park. There are both Dine and Watch and Dine and Walk spots throughout the pathway. Among the many vessels participating are small boats, yachts, kayaks and canoes. The Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce Commodores Club hosts the event. Each year over one million people come out to enjoy the event. Fashion Island Tree Lighting Ceremony

 

The change of season and a home sale paired together are a great time to remember to clean all the windows inside and outside. Buyers will notice smudges and dirty windows. The Fashion Island Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place on both Friday, November 18th and Saturday, November 19th. The Fashion Island tree and the tree lighting ceremony are located in the courtyard between Nieman Marcus and Bloomingdales. The tree lighting ceremony will be hosted by KOST 103.5 FM’s Mark Wallengren.  There will be a 25 minute live musical performance of the Magic of Christmas and will star The Young Americans. 2017 Citizen of the Year Gala

 

During the fall season, it is important to maintain the curb appeal. Fall can be a difficult time to keep a garden in perfect shape, but make an effort to remove decaying leaves from plants that are going dormant for the season. The Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce’s 2017 Citizen of the Year Gala will be held on Friday, November 3rd.  This year’s recipient of the Newport Beach Citizen of the Year is Homer Bludau. The Gala Dinner will begin at 6pm and continue 9pm. There will be dinner and dancing. Homer Bludau was born in San Antonio and has made California his home for 30 years. 56th Annual Sandcastle Contest

 

When you are selling your home during the fall season it is very important to maintain curb appeal. While fall foliage will certainly be attractive, fallen leaves on the grass are messy and make the property look uncared for. Keep leaves raked up. Patch any brown spots of grass and keep the lawn mowed.

 

 

The 56th Annual Sandcastle Contest will be held on Sunday, October 1st. This year’s theme will be “Pirates of the Pacific.” Captain Jack will be making an appearance. The contest gets underway to 10am. Every year, this contest attracts thousands of spectators. This team event is perfect for friends, families, neighborhoods, church and school groups and co-workers. All skill levels are invited to participate. All event participants will receive a t-shirt.  The sand castle contest will be held at the Corona Del Mar State Beach, located at 3100 Ocean Boulevard, in Corona del Mar. The contest is sponsored by the Commodores Club of the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce. Every Friday at the Orange County Museum of Art is free. The museum “is dedicated to enriching the lives of a diverse and changing community through modern and contemporary art.” The museum opened in 1962 and has steadily grown over the years. There is usually special programming on Friday evenings including artist talks, exhibition related panels, Cinema Orange screenings and there are always special exhibits occurring.
