Laguna Beach is a vibrant beachside community in Orange County. Laguna Beach is the second oldest city in the county, it was incorporated in 1927. There are seven miles of beaches in Laguna Beach. The beaches are divided into three sections: Central, Northern and Southern. The Central Area beaches include Main Beach, Sleepy Hollow, St. Ann’s Street, Thalia Street, Oak Street, Brook’s Street, Mountain Road and Bluebird Canyon. Sleepy Hollow beach is closest to the town center. This beach is popular with both Laguna Beach residents and visitors. The beach has a sand bottom with shore break surf conditions, which is popular with swimmers and body surfers. The Northern Area beaches are Irvine Cove, Crescent Bay, Shaw’s Cove, Boat Canyon, Diver’s Cove, Picnic Beach and Rockpile. The Irvine Cove Beach is private beach accessible only through the private communities of Irvine Cove. This beach has two parts, which are attached by a tunnel that is accessible at low tides. This beach is used for surfing, body surfing, skin diving, scuba diving and skim boarding. In the Southern Section, the beaches are Pearl Street, Wood’s Cove, Moss Point, Victoria Beach, Christmas Cove, Goff Cove and Treasure Island. Moss Point Beach is secluded in the area north of Rockledge and south of Wood’s Cove. This is area is popular with locals. Moss Point is has wonderful activities including skin diving, scuba diving, and tide pool exploration. In addition to all the activities that take place around the beach, many homes have swimming pools and spas. Also many neighborhoods offer a community swimming pool, spa and tennis courts.
Laguna Beach is part of the Laguna Beach Unified School District. This award winning school district offers two elementary schools, one middle school and one high school; Top Of The World Elementary, El Morro Elementary, Thurston Middle School and Laguna Beach High School. Laguna Beach High School is the lowest enrollment high school in Orange County. Thurston Middle School was recently named a “Model Campus” among all California state schools. There are many private schools to choose from in the area as well, Anneliese Schools, Grace Classical Academy, St. Anne School, St. Catherine of Siena Parish, and Montessori School of Laguna Beach.
