San Clemente is a mid-sized city located in Orange County, California. San Clemente is bordered on the north by Dana Point, on the south by Oceanside, on the west by the Pacific Ocean and on the east by Fallbrook. The city is 62 miles south of Los Angeles and 60 miles north of San Diego. The city was incorporated in February of 1928. The city has a population of approximately 64,000 people. The city slogan is “Spanish Village by the Sea,” San Clemente chose this because of the combination of the seaside location and the vast amount of Spanish Colonial style architecture in the city.

In addition to the surfing culture, San Clemente has many other activities for residents to participate in. There are outdoor festivals held throughout the year, several golf courses and an aquatics center. San Clemente is one of the most affordable beach front towns in Orange County, setting it apart from other Orange County cities. Prices can be half of what is seen in Laguna Beach and Newport Beach. Students in San Clemente attend schools in the Capistrano Unified School District. There are three middle schools; are Bernice Ayer, Shore Cliffs and Vista del Mar. The only high school is San Clemente High School; this school is well known for their extracurricular surfing program. They have won six recent NSSA national surfing titles. There are fourteen private schools in San Clemente. Among them are California Virtual Academy, Our Lady of Fatima Parish School, Creekside Christian School, and Talega Preparatory Academy.
