The Giant Blue Whale Migration is underway in the waters off of Newport Beach. Over 530, Giant Blue Whales, and over 1,000 whales total, were seen in 2019. Giant Blue Whales are one of the largest animals that exist, some reach lengths of up to 90 feet. Other whales often seen in these waters include humpback whales, minke whales, and bottlenose dolphins are also seen. Whale watching takes place in the waters just outside of Newport Bay, in one of the largest protected marine areas, with over 60 square miles of sanctuary. Lido Isle is a residential only Isle in Newport Harbor.  There are approximately 850 homes on Lido Isle, most are Cape Cod or Mediterranean style.
