The Resort at Pelican Hill was just awarded the very prestigious five star rating from the Forbes Travel Guide. This year 58 hotels nationwide received this rating; twelve of those were in California. This is the first time the Resort at Pelican Hill has received this honor. The resort has worked hard this past year, with increased training and internal audits, to achieve this goal. The Forbes five star distinction is said to be more difficult to achieve than the five diamond rating from AAA. 101 hotels nationwide received the AAA five diamond rating this year. The Forbes award enables hotels to charge increased rates. Forbes bases their fifth star on the level of service the staff offers. Forbes hotel inspectors stay in each hotel for a minimum of three days and two nights, incognito. The inspectors use all the services the hotels offers, such as room service, fitness centers and dining rooms. Some of the specifications a five star hotel must meet include greeting arriving guests’ curbside within 60 seconds of arrival, wake-up calls are placed within two minutes of requested time, restaurant drink refills are delivered within 30 seconds of a beverage being emptied and phone calls are not put on hold for greater than 30 seconds without being offered a call back.
