DeepSea Challenger team member Bruce Sutphen will be leading a discussion at ExplorOcean on Thursday, November 7^th, 2013.  Beginning at 7pm, the discussion will take you to the deepest places on Earth.  Bruce Sutphen will be discussing the anatomy of the DeepSea Challenger manned underwater vehicle.   This vehicle is an engineering marvel, with vertical attitude and made from innovative materials.  Bruce is the US Project manager for the DeepSea Challenger Project.  He was present from the fabrication and assembly to the deep sea dives made by the vehicle.  Bruce has also been a member of the Mariana and New Britain Trench dive teams.  This program is free for ExplorOcean members and $20 for non-members. The second production in the Vanguard University Lyceum Theater 2013-2014 season will be beginning shortly.  Dancing at Lughnasa, A Drama will premiere on Friday October 25^th. Dancing at Lughnasa, is a drama about boyhood memories and dreams. The play is written by Brian Friel and this production is directed by Susan Berkompas. The story focuses on a man’s childhood memories from a small town in rural Ireland in 1936.  The man reflects on his mother and her four sisters. There is live flute, harp, and violin music and dancing.  The play runs from October 25^th to Sunday November 3^rd. Vanguard University Lyceum Theater is located in nearby Costa Mesa. On Thursday October 3^rd, ExplorOcean will have a very special entry in their lecture series.  Shark photographer Richard Salas will be presenting his underwater stories.  The lecture begins at 7pm; doors will open 30 minutes prior.  There will many photographic images of sharks as Richard presents his lecture on sharks place in the ocean ecosystem.  Richard will talk about his many adventures diving with sharks and his amazing passion for these under water creatures. Art for Lunch is being offered at the Orange County Museum of Art on Wednesday, September 18.  Join the staff of Orange County Museum of Art for a lunch time hour of art related activities.  Among the topics covered in the Art for Lunch program have been exhibition tours, guest speakers and performances.  On Wednesday, the program will be led by curator Dan Cameron and will include a tour of the 2013 California-Pacific Triennial.
